Arthur Smith is taking over as the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season as fans who had been calling for Matt Canada’s head for years finally got their wish when the team decided to move on from him after last year’s offense looked stuck in the mud at times.
Smith not only has a new job but also some sporty new facial hair in the form of a strong, authoritative mustache that he recently opened up about.
Smith sat down with The Athletic’s Dianna Russini recently and when she asked if he was going to keep it for the season, he said “I don’t know yet” before saying, “I’ve kind of grown to like it” and calling out his former left tackle with the Tennessee Titans, Taylor Lewan, by saying he only grew his mustache for clicks.
Is @TaylorLewan77‘s mustache for clicks

Smith said the mustache fits Western Pennsylvania, so “we’ll see how it goes” in regards to keeping it for the season.
Pittsburgh put up the 8th-fewest yards per game last season and scored just 17.9 points per game, so there is pressure on Smith to dial those numbers up now that he has two new quarterbacks in town with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Smith’s offense with the Atlanta Falcons the past couple of years also struggled due to having poor quarterback play, so Steelers fans will be hoping that doesn’t carry over to his tenure up north.
The bottom line is that if the Steelers are winning, the mustache will likely stay.
