Just a few years ago, no one knew his name but now Austin Reaves is a huge part of the Los Angeles Lakers.

After just two seasons, Reaves is a proven starter for the team and also participated in the FIBA Basketball World Cup for Team USA.

In their annual ranking of all NBA stars, ESPN listed Reaves as the 66th-best player in the league.

His brother, Spencer, spoke with The Ringer and gave an honest reaction to that ranking.

“I can say this confidently: [Austin] would never come out [and say this]. But he would look at the list and be like, ‘I’m actually higher than 66,’” Spencer said, according to ClutchPoints.

Spencer is right because it seems like his brother would never say anything like that.

He has always been a measured, respectful player with a calm attitude and boyish charm.

However, if he really does believe he should have ranked higher than 66, he isn’t alone.

Reaves has become a fan favorite with the Lakers and there are now millions of people who adore the young star.

And his production speaks for itself: last year he became a phenomenal player in the regular season and then averaged 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game in the playoffs.

He started in all 16 postseason games for the Lakers and made it clear that he could serve his team well.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Lakers’ lineup in 2023-24 and it’s not clear who the fifth and final starting player will be.

But no one was surprised when Reaves was confirmed as a starter alongside LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell.

He may be 66 according to ESPN but he’s obviously one of the top-four players for the Lakers.
