The Los Angeles Lakers were expected to hit the ground running during the 2023-24 NBA season.
While the Lakers do not have a losing record right now, fans are still disappointed in the team’s 3-3 start to the campaign.
D’Angelo Russell’s early-season play has helped the team in winning multiple games so far.
But Russell had a quiet 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists performance against the Orlando Magic, but his teammate Austin Reaves still praised him via Lakers Daily on Twitter.
“A lot of people will go back and trash him for the game he had, but that all it is, nobody’s worried about him,” Reaves said.
“One thing D-Lo don’t lack is confidence. … A lot of people will go back and trash him for the game he had, but that all it is, nobody’s worried about him.”

There were many reasons behind the Lakers’ 101-120 defeat against the Orlando Magic.
The team was outworked on offensive rebounds and committed several unnecessary turnovers that turned into easy buckets for the Magic.
While these flaws will be rectified by the entire team, D’Angelo Russell’s lackluster shooting night played a key role in the Lakers’ defeat.
Russell scored just 11 points, but he shot an abysmal 4-of-17 from the field, including an embarrassing 1-of-10 from 3-point range.
Had Russell shot a bit better from the field, the Lakers might have had a better chance against the Magic.
But as Austin Reaves mentioned, Russell doesn’t lack in having confidence.
If that’s true, then the veteran guard should get back to form sooner rather than later.
