Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Austin Reaves has become a sensation overnight, but that’s not a coincidence.
The undrafted player has worked very hard, and following a breakout campaign with the Lakers, he earned the honor to represent Team USA in the FIBA World Cup.
Needless to say, that gives him the perfect opportunity to talk to other players around the league, as he’s sharing the court with some of the most prominent rising stars in the league, so he can do some recruiting under the table.
However, when the Los Angeles Times asked him about that, the Arkansas product jokingly said that all he does is talk about how nice the weather is in Los Angeles and not much more (via NBA on ESPN).

A couple of days ago, Reaves had jokingly admitted that he had done a little recruiting, but he knew he couldn’t get into a lot of detail in that regard.
Reaves just got the first big payday of his career, so it makes sense that he’s trying to keep that money in his pocket.
Openly talking about trying to recruit a player to your team could lead to fines and even bigger punishments, such as a loss of draft picks.
Still, it’s hard to think that players don’t talk about that sort of thing when they hang out together for that much time, so maybe Reaves will be able to lure at least one guy to Southern California at some point.
