The Los Angeles Lakers finally have their man.
Even though they had chosen Dan Hurley over him, JJ Redick and his camp did not have hard feelings when they circled back on him.
Redick was always a strong candidate for the Lakers’ coaching job, but there were some concerns.
While no one can deny or disagree with the fact that Redick is one of the most knowledgeable and intelligent current or former players, the fact that he had no coaching experience whatsoever was a bit of a concern.
Also, the fact that he had just started a podcast with LeBron James also raised some eyebrows and questions about the timing of this decision and whether Redick would be able to get a grip on the locker room.
That doesn’t seem to be much of an issue early in this tenure.
As shown by Cierra Clark on Twitter, Reaves is thrilled to have Redick as his new coach.

He recently called him a ‘basketball genius’ and claimed that he had gotten to know him a little bit since he went on his podcast last season, adding that they had already been in touch and were looking forward to working together.
Redick is a basketball junkie.
He’s someone who sees and understands the game on a more profound level, and no one has doubts about his skills as a tactician.
He has reportedly turned down multiple assistant coach positions in the past, so clearly, there’s a league-wide belief in him and his potential as a coach.
Now, it’ll be time to prove it.
