The Atlanta Braves have started the 2023 season off on the right foot, winning three of their first four games.

And they cruised to an 8-4 win on Monday night over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

The team was powered by three early home runs, one of which was hit by third baseman and slugger Austin Riley.

Facing Jake Woodford in the top of the first inning, Riley unloaded on a 93-mph fastball and sent it 473 feet out to left-center to put the Braves on top 1-0.

MLB posted a video of the highlight on Twitter, showing just how far Riley hit the ball.

There certainly was never any doubt about this ball leaving the ballpark.

Riley has plenty of power and put it on display in St. Louis on Monday.

The Cardinals rallied to tie the game at one in the bottom of the first, but the Braves got right back to work in the top of the second, as Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr. went deep and put the team ahead by a score of 6-1.

But it was Riley’s home run that got things going on Monday and set the tone for the game.

Charlie Morton also pitched well for the Braves, allowing three runs over 5.1 innings of work and earning a win against a powerful St. Louis lineup.

Game 2 of the series will take place on Tuesday as the Braves try for a series win, which would be their fourth at Busch Stadium in the last six seasons.
