The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for their next coach.
There have been several candidates floating around in the media, with JJ Redick being one of them.
Redick has LeBron James’ ear and respect, as they recently partnered to release a podcast.
He was also a candidate for the Toronto Raptors’ coaching job last season before joining ESPN’s main broadcast team.
And while he recently opened up about his desire to be a coach in the league, former teammate Austin Rivers believes joining the Lakers might not be in his best interests.
Talking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Rivers claimed that the Lakers’ head coaching position is a very hot seat, so a rookie coach like Redick would be under more scrutiny than in other places.

He would rather watch him coach a young team like the Washington Wizards, being a young coach himself.
Rivers praised Redick’s passion and knowledge of the game of basketball, and he believes he can definitely become a successful coach in the pros, but that pressure that comes with coaching the Lakers might not be the best starting point.
He’s right on point.
The Lakers have had three coaches in six years with LeBron James, and that includes a championship coach.
