Having talented NBA players isn’t enough to win on the biggest international stage anymore.
A lot of that has to do with the fact that other teams also have NBA talents, as well as the fact that they have long-withstanding projects with players who have been together for a very long time.
So, now that Team USA went back home empty-handed after a disappointing outing in the FIBA Basketball World Cup, American stars are looking to make a statement and redeem themselves in the upcoming Olympics.
With that in mind, NBA veteran Austin Rivers took to Twitter to share his thoughts and put together a roster that would definitely and easily take home the gold medal next summer.
Steph, Dame, Kyrie
Tatum, book, Ant
Lebron, KD, Jimmy
AD, Bam, JJJ = Gold medal.
And I don’t even want to hear otherwise….

At the point guard position, he chose a three-headed monster consisting of Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and Kyrie Irving.
Then, he rounded up the SG/SF spots with Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, and Anthony Edwards.
For the frontcourt, he went with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Jimmy Butler, adding Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, and Jaren Jackson Jr. as his bigs.
Rivers claimed that he doesn’t want to hear anything about that team not being able to win gold, and truth be told, he’s right on point.
They all have international experience and played at the FIBA level, and they’re some of the best players on Earth, even if some are entering the backend of their prime.
USA Basketball needs some saviors, but the good thing is that they have them right in their backyard.
