Surprisingly, the Milwaukee Bucks recently parted ways with head coach Adrian Griffin, even though the team was one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and a legitimate title contender.

The Bucks didn’t take long to find Griffin’s successor as they immediately reached out to Doc Rivers, who didn’t hesitate to take the job and resurrect his coaching career after the Philadelphia 76ers parted ways with him this past summer.

Unfortunately for Rivers, he hasn’t had much success right out of the gate with the Bucks, as he’s gotten off to a slow start heading into the All-Star break, which has drawn the inevitable criticism.

When asked about his recent struggles as the new head coach of the Bucks, Rivers mentioned it being difficult to take over a title-contending team at the midway point in the NBA regular season, which is true, but rubbed ESPN’s JJ Redick the wrong way.

Redick, who played for Rivers while with the Los Angeles Clippers, ripped the Bucks head coach for always having excuses for his shortcomings.

This led to Austin Rivers reacting to the criticism directed at his father and firing back at his fellow Duke alumnus, via NBA on ESPN.

“It’s strange coming from JJ and I have love for JJ … your best years were with the Clippers,” Rivers said.

Clearly, there seems to be some bad blood between Rivers and Redick, even though the former NBA sharpshooter isn’t afraid to speak his mind and has created a successful post-playing career as a result.

However, it’s too early to really dig into Doc Rivers as he’s only just taken over with a handful of games coached, so it’s a bit premature to bash the new head coach in Milwaukee.
