The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a massive blow to their 2023 NFL season plans when superstar quarterback and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady decided to retire shortly after the 2022 campaign ended.
In the aftermath of Brady’s decision, the two-time Super Bowl champions had to figure out what direction the franchise would go in moving forward and, more importantly, what they’d do about the void left at the quarterback position.
Fortunately, the Buccaneers didn’t take long to decide on Brady’s successor, and although he’s not among the league’s elite class at the position, he’s a player in need of a career overhaul and a second chance to prove his worth.
The Buccaneers signed veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield, who recently spoke about what he likes about the organization, with one thing sticking out above all via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Despite the bumps and bruises the franchise has taken since winning it all with Brady under center, Tampa Bay does seem dedicated to winning and may be looking at a bright future in the NFC South division.
The NFC South is arguably one of the weakest divisions in the NFL, with the division title and playoff berth as a result up for grabs.
The New Orleans Saints may have upgraded at quarterback with the addition of Derek Carr, and the Carolina Panthers may get a boost with a talented rookie quarterback under center while the Atlanta Falcons lean on Desmond Ridder, but the Buccaneers may be the team most prepared to compete right now.
