Baron Davis spent 13 seasons in the NBA and experienced some great moments, including two All-Star appearances and two steal champion titles.
But he was never able to be on Team USA in the Olympics and Davis blames coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Speaking to Draymond Green, per The Volume, Davis said that Coach K held a grudge against him, possibly because Davis chose to play for UCLA instead of Duke.
Whatever the reason, Krzyzewski didn’t even give Davis a tryout and that still bothers the former NBA star to this day.
“I was coming off of 23 and 8…I can’t get a tryout?” Davis said.

Davis is surely speaking about his 2007-08 season when he averaged 21.8 points and 7.6 assists.
That was a great season for Davis but it wasn’t enough to win Krzyzewski over.
Team USA went on to claim the gold medal in the 2008 Olympics and Krzyzewski led them to gold again in 2012 and 2016, but Davis wasn’t a member of any of those teams either.
He was also the head coach for the US team in the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Cup.
Coach K is known for his amazing basketball skills and knowledge and his loyalty to Duke.
Is that really the reason why Davis didn’t make the cut and play in the Olympics?
While that is surely possible, it’s also possible that Krzyzewski just had so much talent to pick from during those Olympic years.
For example, the 2008 team featured Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul, and others.
All these years later, Davis still holds a grudge against Krzyzewski but is surely rooting for Team USA this summer.
