The Chicago Bears made a few coaching staff changes today, none of which included the firing of head coach Matt Eberflus.

The team decided to keep Eberflus for another season after he led the team to a 7-10 record to end the year.

However, the Bears did let go five members of the offensive staff, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter: offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, running backs coach Omar Young, wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert, and assistant tight ends coach Tim Zetts.

So basically the Bears will be starting from scratch on the offensive coaching side of the ball under Eberflus’ direction.

This is an interesting move because it could signal one way or another what the team does with quarterback Justin Fields.

The third-year passer looked better in 2023 but may not have done enough to curry favor with the front office.

Chicago also holds the No. 1 pick and could look to draft a new quarterback to go along with a new offensive coaching staff.

Alternatively, the team may believe in Fields’ development but want to bring in a new coach to try and salvage their former first-round pick.

The next steps in the Bears offseason plan will be to find new offensive coaches, make a decision with Fields, and/or trade the No. 1 overall pick.

It’s going to be a busy spring for general manager Ryan Poles, but the future of the team is at stake after the Bears finished the season by winning five of their final eight games.
