The quarterback position has been a major concern for the Chicago Bears for quite a while now.
There were doubts about Justin Fields entering the season, but they decided to stick with him for another year and trade their No. 1 pick.
Notably, they’re not likely to do the same again this season.
With that in mind, they’ve brought some reinforcements.
According to a report by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Bears just hired Kerry Joseph as their new quarterbacks coach.
The #Bears are hiring Kerry Joseph as their quarterbacks coach, per source.
A former CFL QB and NFL safety, Joseph was the #Seahawks‘ assistant QBs coach the past two seasons. Now he reunites with OC Shane Waldron in Chicago.

He’s going to serve under new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.
Joseph had been with the Seattle Seahawks since 2020, joining them as an offensive assistant and then later serving as assistant wide receivers coach before becoming assistant quarterback coach.
Notably, he had also played for the Seahawks as a safety before pursuing a career in the CFL as a quarterback.
Waldron and Joseph were instrumental in helping Geno Smith become a franchise-caliber quarterback during their short time together in Seattle.
Now, they’re likely to work with USC star QB Caleb Williams, who’s projected to go No. 1 overall.
Just like Smith, Williams is a mobile dual-threat quarterback, drawing comparisons with Patrick Mahomes and looking like one of the most talented prospects we’ve seen in years.
The Bears are most likely going to build their new offense around Williams, and it’ll be interesting to see what return they can get for Fields’ contract, as he’s too good and valuable to just sit there as a backup.
