The Chicago Bears are a struggling NFL franchise that is hoping it is heading in the right direction after years and years of disappointment, with star quarterback Justin Fields creating a lot of optimism in the Windy City that there may be a bright future ahead.

Even though the Bears only won three games last season, Chicago showed a lot of promise down the stretch, as Fields started to come into his own as the undisputed leader of the team and the right man for the job under center.

Heading into the 2023 NFL season, the Bears hope to take another step closer to being relevant again while making a run at a playoff spot in a weaker-than-usual NFC.

With Fields being the face of the franchise moving forward, one of the biggest questions in training camp and throughout the NFL preseason is who will be his backup for the 2023 campaign.

Fields will get the start for the Bears on Saturday when they take on the Buffalo Bills in their preseason finale, but head coach Matt Eberflus won’t let it be known who will be the second quarterback on the depth chart, according to Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Chicago via ProFootballTalk.

Apparently, the team still hasn’t decided which quarterback will be backing up Fields heading into Week 1, which is currently a three-man race between Tyson Bagent, Nathan Peterman, and PJ Walker.

Obviously, the Bills game is big for these three players, as it could mean the difference between being a backup and potentially getting cut.
