The Chicago Bears may have seen enough with the Chase Claypool experiment.

The NFC North franchise hoped they were getting the wide receiver who tallied over 800 yards in each of his first two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to be the same receiver anymore.

His lackluster performance against the Green Bay Packers might be the beginning of the end for Claypool in The Windy City.

That said, as tweeted by BroBible reporter Dov Kleiman, Bears’ ESPN beat writer Courtney Cronin shared that Claypool might not see the field in Week 2.

Update: It’s possible that #Bears WR Chase Claypool will be an healthy scratch for the #Bucs game on Week 2.

Coach Matt Eberflus said: “We’re looking at all possibilities right now.”

This offseason, Claypool was called out for his lack of self-motivation.

Last season, he finished with 140 yards in seven games for the Bears.

Those numbers are not what you’d expect from a self-proclaimed top NFL wide receiver.

His lack of output and effort during the season opener might have led Bears head coach Matt Eberflus to raise the white flag on Claypool.

The Bears gave up a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to acquire him from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In return, the Steelers used it to select cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

As Porter Jr.’s career ascends, Claypool’s NFL run might come to an abrupt end.

He could become a cautionary tale for younger football players who don’t put in the work.
