Once the news broke that the Chicago Bears had secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the rumors began circulating about the team’s intentions and whether Chicago was content to have quarterback Justin Fields under center for the foreseeable future.

With the NFL Draft having some franchise-caliber quarterbacks available like Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis, the Bears had a choice to make to either draft a quarterback at No. 1 and start over or keep Fields and address another position or make a blockbuster trade.

Ultimately, the Bears decided that sticking with Fields was the right way to go after his impressive sophomore campaign in Chicago, and that may be the right move.

According to the Chicago Tribune via NFL on CBS, Fields received some high praise from Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.

The Bears finished the 2022 campaign, having lost their last 10 games and ending their campaign with an ugly record of 3-14, but Fields began to show some promise as he quickly became a nightmare to contain for opposing defenses.

Fields became a threat on the ground and through the air, rushing for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns, which are solid numbers for a star running back, let alone a starting quarterback.

Along with the impressive numbers on the ground, Fields threw for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

If Fields can continue to improve in the passing game, the Bears offense may take it to another level in 2023, making the NFC North division that much more interesting in the years to come.
