The Brooklyn Nets made a terrible deal when they traded for Ben Simmons.
Of course, there wasn’t much they could do at the time, as James Harden wanted out, and there was still hope that he could flourish somewhere else.
However, Simmons has barely been able to play since arriving in Brooklyn, all while making plenty of money they could’ve used on guys who could actually suit up.
Simmons’ demeanor, character issues, and the way he forced his trade out of the Philadelphia 76ers rubbed plenty of people the wrong way, and it’s safe to say that he’s not exactly a fan favorite.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see people flooding social media to react to his appearance at the Met Gala (via Bleacher Report).

Of course, Simmons is a free man and is entitled to do whatever he wants in his free time; it’s not like he’s indebted to anybody because he’s a millionaire basketball player.
Then again, perhaps his PR team could’ve advised him against making this kind of appearance when he’s not exactly beloved on social media.
At the end of the day, we can only hope that he’ll get healthy one day, as he was clearly a special kind of talent who could’ve had a long and successful career.
Hopefully, that ship hasn’t sailed.
