It’s been a while since we last saw Ben Simmons dominate in the NBA.
The former No. 1 pick had a Defensive of the Year-caliber campaign a couple of years ago, but he was never the same after that epic meltdown in the playoffs vs. the Atlanta Hawks.
Injuries, a trade, and alleged mental health issues have stood in his way up to the point where most fans have already given up on him.
However, NBA insider Mark Jones of ESPN recently reported that he’s in ‘fantastic shape’ and finally healthy ahead of the upcoming campaign (via NBA Central).

Of course, one should always take this kind of report with a grain of salt as well, as this wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve heard something similar about Simmons.
Dating back to his first couple of years in the league, Ben Simmons’ off-season PR cycle has always been the same.
Simmons is still young, and there’s no denying that he could still be a dominant force in today’s game.
His defense, playmaking, and athleticism could turn him into a prime asset in the league, even if he never becomes a three-point shooter.
But at this point, it seems like we will have to see it to believe it; we’ve been fooled way too many times already.
