After a lot of speculation ever since he suffered a calf strain during training camp and had to be carted off the practice field, the Cincinnati Bengals have finally done right by superstar quarterback Joe Burrow.
Once Justin Herbert reset the quarterback market with a five-year, $262.5 million deal, the clock started ticking for the Bengals, with Burrow being the next elite quarterback in line to reset the market once again.
Quite a few quarterbacks signed new deals over the course of the NFL offseason, with Herbert joining notable names like Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson, and now Burrow has thrown his hat in the mix with a historic deal with the Bengals.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Burrow is now the highest-paid player in NFL history, with a deal that will pay him $219 million guaranteed.

Unlike some quarterbacks that have signed new deals this year, like Daniel Jones and Jimmy Garoppolo, the Bengals were not going to have any concerns signing Burrow, even though he comes with some injury history.
It could be argued that only Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs sits ahead of Burrow on the list of elite quarterbacks in the NFL, and that stance could change in the near future if the Bengals win a title or two.
With Burrow’s future with the team now officially secure, the team can focus on the 2023 NFL season and strive for that elusive Super Bowl title, as Cincinnati has everything they need to compete for a championship this season and beyond.
