The New England Patriots have officially hit rock bottom.

Losing to the New York Giants was a new low for them, and the fact that they had to bench Mac Jones — again — pretty much means his days as a starter should be over — at least in Foxboro.

The same could be said of Bill Belichick, who’s been tangled up with multiple rumors about his coaching future for months now.

With that in mind, a reporter asked the legendary coach whether he had already chosen a next destination to coach, to which he responded it was a ‘ridiculous’ question (via Mike Kadick).

“Yeah, that’s ridiculous.”

Belichick isn’t known for his patience or his respectful ways with the media, so this was far from a surprise.

A report stated that he had quietly reached an agreement with the Patriots on a new contract.

That was a little shocking, as team owner Robert Kraft had made it loud and clear that he wouldn’t hesitate to fire him if the team didn’t go back to their winning ways.

Perhaps some still believe that Belichick is the best coach in the league and he just needs a better team to turn things around, so Kraft wants to make sure they have to give something up in return for his services.

Whatever the case, it seems like the relationship is worn out at this point, and Belchick’s days in Foxboro could be numbered.

Now, his next step could either cement his legacy as the best to ever do it or make that asterisk from the post-Tom Brady era even bigger.
