After another disappointing early exit in the NFL playoffs last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers brass were adamant about making some changes to the team, especially on the offensive side of the football, to give the storied franchise a better chance of being successful in the postseason with Mike Tomlin at the helm.
After the Steelers signed former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, the team traded away Kenny Pickett, who clearly wasn’t developing fast enough for the team’s liking, and eventually made a deal with the Chicago Bears for Justin Fields.
These two moves gave the team a lot of depth at the position while setting up the franchise for potential success now and down the road.
Although many believed Wilson would win the starting job, it seems to be up in the air at this point, which could mean the team has some problems moving forward.
However, former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick thinks the team’s problems are way more profound than at the quarterback position via The Pat McAfee Show.
“I think they have bigger problems than the QB position. The offensive line had a hard time, I think, being consistent there. They need to get the running game going,” Belichick said.

Without a solid offensive line and a consistent running game, the Steelers could be bound to fail on offense again this season, which is obviously concerning for Tomlin and company moving forward.
However, if the team can get it together upfront and coming out of the backfield, Pittsburgh might be a force to be reckoned with in 2024.
