Former first-round safety Lewis Cine is headed to New York, but he is not going to play for the Jets or Giants.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the former Viking is expected to join the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad after choosing the Bills over the Jets.
“Cine, who is headed to Buffalo now, had initially leaned toward the Jets but opts to go elsewhere in the AFC East,” Garafolo recently wrote on social media.

Although he is starting on the practice squad, he brings over plenty of talent on the backend.
Buffalo had to cut ties with plenty of key defensive players, including a pair of Pro Bowl safeties in Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde.
Veterans Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin are slated to be the starting safeties entering the season.
Behind them on the depth chart sits Cam Lewis, Cole Bishop, and veteran Mike Edwards.
Cine is a former CFP National Title Game Defensive MVP and his experience being a key piece of arguably the best defense in college football with Georgia is important.
However, he has played in just ten games over his first two seasons due to injury after being drafted at pick No. 32 overall back in 2022.
He will need to stay healthy if he hopes to make an impact in Buffalo.
This move by the Bills was an underrated one because they, at the very least, get some more depth in the form of a very talented player who simply just hasn’t been able to stay healthy.
