It’s been a long while since Blake Griffin was a legit NBA star.
The former No. 1 pick spent most of his prime years with the Los Angeles Clippers, then took the Detroit Pistons to the playoffs, and later fell from grace, struggling to find his footing in the league.
That journey led them to the Boston Celtics.
And while he didn’t actually play a lot at the TD Garden, the former Slam Dunk champion recently gushed about the city, the fans, and even the young core of players they have out there (via Fore Play Golf).
There was a time when Griffin was considered to be a perennial All-Star and one of the best power forwards in the game.
His athleticism, strength, and raw power made him a walking highlight reel.
But his body struggled to hold up after so many injuries, and once he lost that first step, he just couldn’t be the same kind of player he was, even if he added more range to his offensive repertoire.
He’s currently a free agent still, which is crazy to think if you had been told that three or four years ago.
But it seems like he really enjoyed his days in Boston, and with Kristaps Poringis’ history of injuries, perhaps they could give him another shot.
He’s not getting any younger and obviously doesn’t have a lot left in the tank, but they have two open roster spots, and he’d love to get another chance to play for a championship.
