The Toronto Blue Jays, with a 77-63 record as of Friday afternoon, occupy the third and final postseason spot via the Wild Card in the American League.

They had been without top hitter and starting shortstop Bo Bichette since August 27.

The infielder was placed on the 10-day injured list on August 29, retroactive to August 28, with a right quad strain.

Fortunately for Toronto, the team was able to hold down the fort while Bichette reached full health, going 6-3 in his absence.

Now, the team announced he is ready to return to the active roster.

“ROSTER MOVES: SS Bo Bichette has been reinstated from the 10-day IL and will be active tonight. INF Mason McCoy optioned to Triple-A,” the Blue Jays wrote on Twitter.

Bichette is an integral part of Toronto’s lineup.

On a squad that boasts George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Alejandro Kirk, and other top hitters, Bichette is by far the most consistent performer.

In 2023, he is slashing .314/.344/.488 with 26 doubles and 18 home runs in 114 games.

Bichette’s ability to hit for average is really underrated, and his .831 OPS is as steady as they come.

If he is healthy and the rest of his teammates play well, Toronto will likely return to the postseason, where they will seek vengeance after being ousted in the Wild Card round last year.

If they manage to make a long run, it will likely be because Bichette played well and was a constant presence on the basepaths.
