This will be Daniel Jones’ sixth season in the National Football League.
If he hasn’t figured things out yet, chances are he’s just never going to.
Perhaps, his good — not great — season two years ago was just a fluke, and it’s always seemed like Brian Daboll hasn’t been entirely sold on him.
That’s why, following a subpar performance in the preseason, former NFL QB Boomer Esiason believes Daboll will be all over Jones this season.
Talking on WFAN Sports Radio, the legendary quarterback claimed that Daboll, being an old-school coach who will also be calling plays, won’t hesitate to get in Jones’ face to try and get the best out of him.

Truth be told, Jones looks more like a finished product at this point in his development, so this might be Daboll’s final chance to determine whether he’s their guy or not.
The Giants gave Jones a legitimate star prospect in Malik Nabers, and the defense has also taken big steps this offseason.
Daboll is a great offensive mind and, while the offensive line is subpar, he’s a guy who knows how to scheme players open, and it’ll be up to Jones to either lead them to success or prove that he’s just not the player they need.
The Giants can move on from Jones next offseason without being on the hook for the rest of his contract, and if he plays like he did in the preseason so far, he might not even get to finish the season as the starter.
