Miami Heat fans might not be thrilled with Pat Riley’s work over the past couple of years.
The team has missed every trade and free agency target they’ve had, and it seems like his negotiation tactics might be outdated.
Recently, star SG Bradley Beal revealed to Andscape that his preferred trade destination was actually the Heat, not the Phoenix Suns (via NBACentral).

Apparently, he even reached out to Riley to let him know about his desire to play there, but he felt like the Heat were “dragging feet” after Riley told him that the owner wouldn’t give him the green light.
Beal, who played for the University of Florida, took that as a “gut punch.”
A previous report stated that the Heat didn’t want to give up a lot to get Beal because they weren’t sure about him being so much better than Tyler Herro, who was obviously way cheaper.
But this highlights a bigger underlying issue.
The Heat have overvalued their assets and have lowballed every team they’ve tried to engage in trade talks with.
That’s no way of making business, and it has come to a point where other teams simply don’t want to make deals with them anymore, or so it seems.
Miami failed to land Beal and Damian Lillard — two players who admittedly wanted to play for them — in a three-month span, all while losing talent in free agency as well.
