The Golden State Warriors weren’t able to live up to the expectations this season.

Injuries, age, regression, and a poorly constructed roster stood in their way more often than not.

However, despite the shortcomings, the organization found a keeper in Brandon Podziemski.

The No. 19 pick played a big part in Steve Kerr’s rotation, even starting 28 games, and he stepped up big time for either Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson when they needed him.

That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him making the All-Rookie First Team.

When asked about that, the Santa Clara product admitted that it was a great feeling, especially considering the fact that not many rookie players get to play for a win-now organization like the Warriors (via 95.7 The Game).

“It means a lot. It’s something I had on the goal list of mine coming into the year and I got to check that box.”

He admitted that making that team was a goal of his entering the season, so it was very special to achieve that goal.

Podziemski had some solid performances for the Dubs last season, including one with 14 assists, a game with five steals, and an 11-rebound performance.

He made an impact on both ends of the floor, finishing his rookie campaign with averages of 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 three-pointers per game on 45/38/63 shooting and just 26.6 minutes a night.

Podziemski might not be the flashiest guy out there, but he’s a player who’s going to play within his role, make the right plays, and fill up the stat sheet on a nightly basis.

The Warriors’ future is cloudy right now, to say the least, but he looks like a lock to be a big part of it.
