The New Orleans Pelicans have one of the most interesting cores in the league right now.
However, it seems like it’s time they take that step forward once and for all instead of just being the team that’s one year or one piece away from being a legitimate contender.
With that in mind, star F Brandon Ingram claimed that the team will be as good as they want to be, stating that it’ll be up to them to make the adjustments they need to thrive (via SiriusXM NBA Radio).
“It’s all up to us.”

The Pelicans have flirted with playoff contention for quite a while.
They look like a legitimate threat to take down some actual contenders when Zion Williamson is healthy, but that hasn’t happened so far.
Zion’s health will once again be at the center point of every Pelicans-related talk as it’s become more than evident that they can’t count on him to stay healthy throughout the course of a full season.
They’ll have to make a decision eventually and either trade him or load-manage him throughout the course of the entire season, even if that means paying hefty fines due to the league’s new policies.
Whatever the case, it seems like that’s the biggest thing holding this team back, and they’ve spent way too much time and money trying to get over the hump.
Ingram will also need to be better and stay healthy to hold down the fort if — when — Zion misses time, especially now that he’s looking to get paid.
