During his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, forward Brandon Ingram became a household name, as he was quickly turning into the first young star for the storied franchise in the post-Kobe Bryant era.
Unfortunately for Ingram, once he really started to show some promise in Los Angeles, he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in a blockbuster deal for superstar forward Anthony Davis.
Sometimes a move like this early in a player’s career can derail their progress and turn them into a role player rather than a star they were expected to become and were on the path to becoming.
As for Ingram, it seemed to be the right move for the former No. 2 overall draft pick, as he went on to become an All-Star and now is arguably the face of the franchise in the Big Easy, sharing the spotlight with the often injured Zion Williamson.
In an interview with Will Guillory of The Athletic, Ingram talked about being in the city of New Orleans and how it has turned out to be the perfect place for him in the NBA.
Brandon Ingram feels connected with New Orleans and its people. He wants to stay in the Big Easy. And he wants to win.
“I know when you win, that takes care of everything else.”

With two years left on his deal with the Pelicans, Ingram made it clear that he wants to stay in New Orleans when it comes time to talk about a contract extension.
Although he was snubbed for the All-Star Game last season, as he played only 45 games due to injury, he played really well while healthy and on the floor for the Pelicans.
The former Duke University star averaged a career-high 24.7 points per game while also grabbing 5.0 rebounds and dishing out 5.8 assists per night.
