Over the last few years, a popular topic of discussion in the NBA and the NFL among current and past players has been which players would be on their Mt. Rushmore, which is basically their top-four players of all time in their chosen sport.

Usually, this is a conversation had about NBA players, with there being such a debate lately with Michael Jordan and LeBron James being in contention for the greatest ever.

However, the NFL conversation is interesting, with former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall being the latest to chime in, as he gave his top-four players or Mt. Rushmore on the I AM ATHLETE podcast.

The top two players on Marshall’s list are pretty typical, with Tom Brady and arguably the greatest wide receiver of all time, Jerry Rice, then it got a bit interesting.

Most NFL players and fans would put Brady at the top of their list, as it is hard to beat what he was able to accomplish during his time as the quarterback for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rice is almost certainly at the top of the list or second when wide receivers like Marshall are asked this question, so that comes as no surprise, but legendary Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders being third is interesting.

Sanders cut his career short for reasons that remain mysterious, but he is without a doubt the best back of all time in the minds of many.

Then coming in with Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 4 is a little surprising, but maybe it shouldn’t be after he won his third title.
