Ever since he was acquired from the Oakland Athletics, Matt Olson has been every bit as good as advertised for the Atlanta Braves.
Olson joined the team to replace the departed Freddie Freeman.
With just under two months remaining in the regular season, Olson already has hit 42 home runs and has a total of 105 RBI.
But even before joining the Braves, there was a connection between Olson and the organization.
On Saturday, Brian Snitker, the manager of the Braves shared a heartwarming story about Olson.
According to Snitker, Olson was taught in grade school by the mother of Braves legend Jeff Francoeur.
FOX Sports tweeted the video of Snitker’s brief interview.
Brian Snitker tells @Ken_Rosenthal a story about how he knew Matt Olson would be a great guy in the clubhouse:
“My wife got a text from Jeff Francoeur’s mom who taught him in grade school, and she said ‘you’re gonna love this kid’ and you know what, we have.” pic.twitter.com/cdFkLyxpgW

Snitker revealed that when Olson was traded to the Braves, his wife got a text from Francoeur’s mother.
The text read, “You’re gonna love this kid.”
That’s when Snitker knew that Olson would be a great addition to the team and the clubhouse.
Snitker also says that Francoeur’s mother was proven correct and that the Braves have loved having the veteran slugger around.
Olson’s power surge is one reason why the Braves enjoy having him on their roster.
But this heartwarming story was ultimately proven correct.
Olson grew up in Georgia and was a fan of the Braves as a child.
So, there was always a connection.
But having been taught by Francoeur’s mom in elementary school, there was a strong sentiment that he would be a welcome addition to the Braves clubhouse.
Sure enough, the Braves have loved every second of it.
