Every time the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets face off, something exciting is bound to happen.

They are both among the best and most talented teams in baseball, with intentions to contend until the very end.

On Monday, the two squads played an afternoon game at Citi Field, in New York.

Ronald Acuna Jr., the star of the Braves, doesn’t care where his team plays: he is always prepared to hit absolute rockets.

That’s what he did on Monday, against John Curtiss.

Just take a look at this:

Acuna didn’t just clear the wall: he sent the ball into the third deck of Citi Field.

It was in the second inning and it helped give the Braves a commanding 6-1 lead at the time.

The ball left the bat at an incredible 114.5 mph and traveled a projected 448 feet.

After a somewhat discrete 2022 season in which he hit “just” 15 home runs and slugged a disappointing .413, Acuna is slashing a robust .360/.445/.577 with five homers and a 1.022 OPS so far in 2023.

Not only that, but he also has taken full advantage of the bigger bases to steal 13 so far.

Acuna is one of just a handful of players in MLB with enough power and speed to challenge for a 40-40 season.

He would need to pick up the pace in the home run department, but as Monday’s incredible blast showed, he is more than capable of hitting the ball a long way.

As long as he is playing at such a high level, the Braves will be favorites to win the NL East.
