The San Francisco 49ers struck gold when they drafted Brock Purdy with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Purdy was on the roster bubble during training camp, but quickly found himself thrust into a starting role once injuries occurred.
From there, Purdy went from an unknown to a star overnight as he led the 49ers to a playoff appearance.
In his first full year as the starter with San Francisco, Purdy continued to prove any skeptics wrong with his play and even led the team to a Super Bowl.
With the 2024 NFL season rounding the corner, all eyes will be on Purdy to see if he can continue this high level of play.
New York Jets star running back Breece Hall was teammates with Purdy at Iowa State and he talked about what he saw from the quarterback in college via The Pivot.
“In college he always had big play potential,” Hall said. “His potential to do a lot of stuff. We had some very big wins and everything… I always knew he had it in him to be a great player, but what he’s doing now is a complete surprise. He always told me ‘As long as I got the pieces around me, I’m gonna be successful’. Just hearing him say that and now he has the pieces he needed, he’s successful.”
Jets RB Breece Hall talks about his college days with his roommate at the time, Brock Purdy:
“For me it was just seeing how hard Brock worked in college and Brock was my roommate for two and a half years. Having conversations with him, he always told me he was never the most… pic.twitter.com/i8LEMnL8ES

Hall had high praise for Purdy and it sounds like he knew this was coming if he ever got the opportunity.
Now, both Iowa State alumni are making their marks in the NFL.
