The Green Bay Packers have been extremely lucky to have a smooth succession of good or great quarterbacks for the past 30 years.
First it was Brett Favre emerging as a star in the early 1990s and leading them to their first Super Bowl championship since the late 1960s.
When Favre came out of retirement and was traded to the New York Jets in 2008, Aaron Rodgers, who had been drafted in 2005, quickly became worthy of being their next franchise QB.
Last year was deja vu — Rodgers was traded to the Jets, and Jordan Love, who was drafted three years prior, blossomed late in the year while looking elite.
Favre told Zach Gelb that he doesn’t see any reason why Love shouldn’t be able to win the Packers another world championship and end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Love was drafted by Green Bay in 2020, and for his first three seasons, they were grooming him to be Rodgers’ successor.
There were some rumors that the grooming of Love was bothering Rodgers, and that, along with some contract unhappiness, resulted in Rodgers asking to be traded last spring.
When the 2023 season began, plenty doubted whether Love was ready or if he was even capable of shining brightly.
But he played phenomenal ball down the stretch, throwing for 2,150 yards and 18 touchdowns against just one interception in the last eight games of the regular season.
The Packers came within minutes of advancing to the NFC Championship Game, and now expectations are sky-high for both them and Love, which is a dramatic change from how things were less than 12 months ago.
