The New York Giants enter a make-or-break season, at least when it comes to the quarterback position.

Daniel Jones hasn’t convinced the fans — or anybody, for that matter — and GM Joe Schoen may have put his job on the line for him this offseason.

That’s why it’s such big news to hear that the Duke product will actually suit up for their second preseason contest.

Jones, who suffered a torn ACL late last season, has already been cleared for contact (Via Jordan Raanan).

QB Daniel Jones will likely play in preseason action on Saturday against the Texans, coach Brian Daboll told reporters.

Notably, the Giants considered trading up to get a quarterback early in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but to no avail.

Eventually, they went with Malik Nabers, one of the best wide receiver prospects we’ve seen in years.

Still, the fact that Schoen doubled down on Jones and even agreed to let Saquon Barkley walk away could be his downfall if things don’t go well with the quarterback this season.

Brian Daboll seemed done with Jones at times last season, and the way he was so enthusiastic about Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels also speaks volumes about him not being entirely sold on his signal-caller.

Jones has been in the league long enough to prove that he’s either got it or he doesn’t.

And even though he’s rarely been in a position to succeed because of all the coaching changes, the subpar offensive line, and the lack of talent around him, he’s also left plenty to be desired when he’s been out there.
