The Brooklyn Nets created a major ripple effect around the league with the Mikal Bridges trade.

Shortly after moving on from the former Phoenix Suns guard/forward, they also made a big transaction with the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets essentially gave the Nets their own picks back, and they now have control of the Suns’ selections.

That’s why ESPN insider Brian Windhorst believes the Rockets are setting up to trade for Kevin Durant.

Talking on the Unsportsmanlike Radio Show, the renowned insider stated that the timing of this move wasn’t a coincidence.

He claimed that the Rockets didn’t have to make this move now, as they could’ve waited for at least another season before giving the Nets’ picks back, if ever.

He thinks the Rockets are doing this because they believe they can get a deal done for Durant now, not next season or in the future.

And while Houston could also opt to send the Suns’ picks somewhere else, so another team could make a run at Durant, they have some obvious ties.

Durant had a close relationship with Rockets coach Ime Udoka, who was an assistant on the Nets, so that makes sense.

Windhorst also stated that, to his knowledge, Durant hadn’t requested a trade or anything like that.

Still, there have been several rumors about his discontent.

But more than that, the Suns have no control over their draft picks, and moving on from the former MVP might be their only way out.
