The Los Angeles Lakers simply weren’t able to compete with the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.
The defending champions walked all over LA throughout the game and easily pushed past them for a big 127-100 win.
On Friday morning, Brian Windhorst didn’t seem too shocked by what he saw in the painful defeat for the Lakers.
Speaking on Get Up, Windhorst said:
“It was not a surprise to me at all to see this type of performance from the Lakers…I was zero percent surprised the way this game played out and I will be zero percent surprised if the Lakers have to moderate their energy level as the series goes on.”
“The Lakers double-teamed [Steph] because they’re afraid of him. As they should be.”

Windhorst reminded viewers that the Lakers followed a similar pattern in the first round when playing against the Memphis Grizzlies.
They scored a road victory in Game 1, lost in Game 2, and then came back stronger in Games 3 and 4 back in Los Angeles.
Windhorst cautioned that the Warriors aren’t the same type of team as the Grizzlies and they will put up much more of a fight.
But he wasn’t caught off guard to see the Lakers lacking on Thursday and thinks they will need to keep monitoring their energy levels as the series goes on.
For fans of the team, Thursday’s game was another frustrating example of the team doing poorly after a great win.
Again and again all season, the Lakers have been inconsistent, posting big victories followed by maddening losses.
It has gotten to the point where NBA experts like Windhorst now expect the Lakers to play in this manner.
Will they follow the pattern of round one and give fans a big comeback to cheer for on Saturday?
