The Cleveland Cavaliers have two priorities to address in the offseason: keeping Donovan Mitchell and finding a new coach.

All reports state that J.B. Bickerstaff had already overstayed his welcome in Ohio, and while he did what he could with the hand he was given, it was time for someone else to take the wheel.

With that in mind, it seems like the Cavaliers have already found two candidates for the job.

According to a report by ESPN insider Brian Windhorst, Kenny Atkinson and James Borrego are the current frontrunners (via ESPN Cleveland).

Borrego is also reportedly in play to coach the Los Angeles Lakers, and Atkinson has been a candidate for multiple head coaching positions since being dismissed by the Brooklyn Nets, so this isn’t exactly much of a surprise.

The Cavs reportedly are optimistic about their ability to keep Mitchell in town.

He hasn’t talked about wanting to leave town, but he hasn’t committed to signing a contract extension, either.

Whatever the case, this summer could and should be quite eventful in The Land.

If Mitchell stays, they will most likely have to trade Darius Garland, who would reportedly request a trade to pursue a bigger opportunity somewhere else.

Regardless of who stays, they will most likely also have to move on from Jarrett Allen, who didn’t get on his teammates’ good side for not playing through an injury in the playoffs.

Also, his fit with Evan Mobley has always been questionable, and whoever takes the reins of the team will also have to prioritize his development.
