For years there have been questions about tampering with NBA and NFL teams.
Insiders break the news of trades and signings minutes before they actually happen, and some of those transactions are poorly kept secrets for weeks leading up to the actual event.
In an attempt to tackle that and give teams a better chance to retain their own free agents, the league has officially established a new rule.
As pointed out by ESPN insider Brian Windhorst on the UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio show, the new policy establishes that teams can negotiate with their own free agents as soon as the NBA Finals are over.

That means that teams could start negotiating with their own free agents as early as tomorrow, meaning we could be looking at some massive deals taking place this same week.
Windhorst added that players like Tyrese Maxey and Pascal Siakam could get their new contracts right away, adding that other guys like Klay Thompson or Donovan Mitchell could also be in the mix for a new deal or a contract extension.
He also pointed out that Paul George is more than likely to become a free agent, wondering why the Los Angeles Clippers would allow him to do that, knowing that other teams like the Philadelphia 76ers want to get him.
This NBA Draft class is less than impressive, to say the least, but we cannot say the same about free agency and some trade candidates, and this could be a very eventful offseason for all teams around the league.
