The New Orleans Pelicans have a bit of a problem on their hands right now.

On the one hand, Brandon Ingram is a very good player.

On the other hand, he’s also injury-prone and has struggled in big moments, and he’s looking to get paid.

That’s why his name has been floated around in trade rumors for weeks now.

Recently, some rumors pointed out that he could be a target for the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers.

With that in mind, Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN Cleveland asked Brian Windhorst whether that was a real possibility and whether they could trade Jarrett Allen for him.

However, Windhorst believes it won’t be an easy decision for the Cavaliers.

For starters, they cannot trade Jarrett Allen straight up for Brandon Ingram, as Ingram makes $16 million more than Allen.

That means that the Cavs would most likely have to give up Caris LeVert as well to make the numbers work.

But more than that, the fact that Ingram is reportedly looking to get a $200 million contract extension is what might prevent the Cavaliers from making a run at him.

While Ingram is a very good player, the Pelicans are reportedly not willing to meet that asking price, and Windhorst states that whoever trades for him will inherit the very same situation.

On paper, Ingram should get that kind of money, judging by today’s inflated market and astronomical deals.

Then again, with that history of injuries, it’s not much of a surprise to see other teams having second thoughts about paying him that kind of money.
