Team USA and its plethora of NBA talent will look to move on in the Olympics.
First, they’ll have to get past Brazil, a team that has exceeded plenty of expectations thus far.
The Americans are 27-point favorites ahead of the matchup, which isn’t much of a surprise, considering how talented they are and how big a gap we find in that regard.
Nonetheless, as pointed out by Brian Windhorst, Steve Kerr’s team could come across some issues vs. the South Americans.
Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, Windhorst pointed out that Brazil is both the best three-point shooting team left in the competition and the best offensive rebounding team as well.

“Brazil is not comparable to the U.S. in talent, but they are very strong upfront. … I would expect Steve Kerr to use his big lineup.” pic.twitter.com/EkgCokfXut

With that in mind, he expects Kerr to roll with a jumbo lineup featuring Joel Embiid and Bam Adebayo, all while Jayson Tatum also gets plenty of playing time.
Windhorst revealed that the Americans have been the worst team in the tournament in terms of allowing offensive rebounds, and that’s something they just can’t afford against a team that’s stout up front, just like Brazil.
Once again, on paper, Team USA should find little to no trouble getting past them, but we’ve seen teams that were supposed to dominate crumble under pressure way too many times already.
Germany and Serbia have already moved on to the semifinal, and Team USA won’t want to go home empty-handed after crushing their opposition in the group stage, so we should expect them to be very focused and motivated vs. the Brazilian squad.
