The Cleveland Cavaliers had a must-win game against the Boston Celtics on Monday night that was highly anticipated and viewed by millions of people.
But it was LeBron James who got the most attention.
Sitting courtside for the game, the former Cavaliers star received a warm reception from the fans but also raised many eyebrows.
Speaking to Pat McAfee, Brian Windhorst discussed James’ appearance at the game.
James and his wife, Savannah, were in town because of Mother’s Day and were invited to a game courtesy of Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
Additionally, James’ agent, Rich Paul, called the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the day to notify them that his client would be at the game and it wasn’t a big deal.
That being said, Windhorst reminded viewers that ten years ago, James showed up for a Cavaliers game while still a member of the Miami Heat and signed with Cleveland just a few months later.
“I was told that it was Mother’s Day weekend & LeBron was back in Cleveland for that..
Rich Paul called the Lakers earlier in the day & told them LeBron was going to the game..
Ten years ago when he was with the Heat he came to a Cavs game & a few month later he signed there” ~… pic.twitter.com/OdWz6gc3vh

So, what does all this mean?
Was James at the game simply because he’s a fan of the Cavaliers or was he attending to generate buzz and open the door to possibly returning next season?
Even though the Lakers were told about James’ appearance, they were still surely on edge, afraid that history would repeat itself and they’d lose their star player.
Most reports say that James and the Lakers wish to keep working together and that a contract extension is very likely.
That being said, no one can ever totally count out the idea of him deciding to end his career in Cleveland.
It may have been totally innocent, but James’ courtside arrival during Monday’s game has fans of the Cavaliers and Lakers wondering what is about to come.
