There were certain points during the 2023-2024 NBA season when the Cleveland Cavaliers looked unstoppable.

They have assembled an impressive starting five, one that can compete with the best teams in the league when healthy.

Health was a massive issue for this team down the stretch; however, it was difficult for them to go on a deep playoff run.

They lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to the Boston Celtics, a devastating blow for this team that seemed to put it together during the regular season.

Now that they are officially in the offseason, the Cavaliers are evaluating their roster, seeing what players they want to enter a new season with.

There have been talks of Donovan Mitchell taking his talents elsewhere, as well as several other key members of the roster.

Darius Garland was initially thought to be on the move, but Brian Windhorst’s latest comments seem to indicate otherwise.

As he said on ESPN Cleveland via NBA Central, “There are now teams that are sort of backing off, saying well, maybe Garland is not gonna be available.”

If that is the case, the Cavaliers could be planning to keep Garland as a cornerstone of their roster.

He is three years younger than Mitchell, and if they have to choose between the two, they could elect to keep the player with less tread on their tires.

Plus, Garland didn’t have as many severe injury concerns as Mitchell over the past year, which could make their decision much easier moving forward.
