Steve Kerr’s star-studded Team USA squad is undefeated at the 2024 Paris Olympics after defeating Serbia, South Sudan, Puerto Rico and Brazil in consecutive games, resulting in LeBron James and company advancing to the semifinals to play Nikola Jokic’s Serbia squad for a third time.

Although Team USA had some tough challenges during its exhibition games, as South Sudan, Australia and Germany all gave them a run for their money, the Americans have been firing on all cylinders ever since the games started to count at the 2024 Olympics.

With Australia and Canada already knocked out of the tournament, Germany might be the only formidable foe left, and the only way the Americans would face Dennis Schroder’s squad would be in the gold-medal game.

That said, there’s a good chance that winning the gold medal in this tournament is inevitable for this team filled with NBA All-Stars.

After a 35-point quarterfinal win against Brazil, Brian Windhorst of ESPN said he believes that the Americans are playing the best they have since heading overseas, but there might be another level they can get to before it is all said and done.

“It’s probably the best they have played, [but] I actually think they have a higher level,” Windhorst said, via NBA on ESPN.

That’s a bold statement by Windhorst, but the NBA insider might not be wrong, as it seems the team might be capable of playing even better defensively.

With a maximum of two games left to play, it remains to be seen if the squad will reach that next level as it tries to win a gold medal.
