In preparation for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, the Denver Broncos had to make some moves, like every other team, to reduce their roster to the league maximum of 53 players.
Every year, deciding which players to keep is never easy for any team, as very capable players often are let go to address needs in other areas of the roster.
That was the case for the Broncos, and they wound up parting ways with veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick, who many believed had proven his worth during the NFL preseason to make the final roster.
Unfortunately for Patrick, the 30-year-old hasn’t played a game for the Broncos since the 2021 NFL season because he’s suffered injuries that have made him unavailable.
Even though he’s finally healthy and seemingly back to being productive, the Broncos let him go after they failed to trade him before the deadline, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
WR Tim Patrick among the cuts for the #Broncos, who didn’t reach an agreement on a trade. Would expect him to land elsewhere in short order. https://t.co/p9OgADZckg

When Patrick was active and healthy for the Broncos, he was a key member of their receiving corps, catching 53 passes for 734 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the 2021 season.
Although Patrick comes with some risk, further reports say the Detroit Lions might be willing to take a chance on the veteran, perhaps putting him on the practice squad as an insurance plan at wide receiver.
As for the Broncos, they will move forward with Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds and Marvin Mims Jr. as their top receivers heading into the 2024 NFL season.
