The Las Vegas Raiders picked up a Week 1 win in Jimmy Garoppolo’s debut with the team.

This was a gritty game between them and the Denver Broncos, as the Raiders ultimately won by one point.

Despite widespread optimism about Garoppolo’s performance, one Broncos player was unamused, especially due to one play that resulted in a penalty.

According to Justin Simmons’ comments to the Associated Press via Pro Football Talk, “I guess great acting on Jimmy’s end” was a reason for his penalty.

Simmons was charged with a personal foul during this game, which will be up for review.

If the NFL determines his hit to have malicious intent behind it, Simmons could be fined.

His comments indicate that Garoppolo flopped during this play and that a fine is not warranted.

“I think anyone who watched that clip can tell there was no force with the helmet,” Simmons said.

While he saw this as an egregious flag by the officials, Garoppolo and the Raiders had the last laugh.

They are now 1-0 and head into Buffalo with hopes of starting a winning streak.

Many analysts doubted the Raiders’ ability to compete this season, understanding they had an uphill battle for a playoff spot.

Their Week 1 win puts them in a great position moving forward.

While they might be confident after this opening victory, several of their players are banged up, including Garoppolo.

Their future success hinges largely on the health of their top playmakers, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
