The Denver Broncos struggled mightily last season, and it was not like they were rewarded because of that in the NFL Draft either.

But at least there are more than enough reasons to look forward to the next campaign, as they’ll have a new elite coach in Sean Payton, and most of their defensive stars will be back on the field as well.

That includes superstar CB Patrick Surtain II, who was recently chosen as the best cornerback in the game, according to a poll conducted by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, which was answered by players, coaches, scouts, and executives league-wide.

Notably, it wasn’t much of a surprise to him.

Surtain opened up on how honored he felt when asked about it by the “All Things Covered” podcast by CBS Sports, saying that all the hard work he puts in showed in the great season he had.

Then again, he knows how much he works and how much attention he pays to detail, which is why he definitely believes he’s the number one player in that position in the whole league.

Needless to say, it’s one thing to say it, and a whole different thing is to prove it on the field, and he’s proved it over and over.

But with guys like Jalen Ramsey, Sauce Gardner, and Jaire Alexander also in the league and looking to take that distinction away from him, he’ll have to be even more impressive in the upcoming campaign, which will obviously be a major challenge.
