Bronny James has experienced his fair share of ups and downs during his time in the NBA Summer League and that has played with his chances of winning Rookie of the Year next season.
As pointed out by Yahoo Sports, James’ opening odds to win ROY were +15000.
After a few games, that number doubled to +30000.

Most bettors believe that Zach Edey of the Memphis Grizzlies currently has the best chance of being Rookie of the Year, with other players like Reed Sheppard, Zaccharie Risacher, and Alex Sarr also in the mix.
James is far below all of them on nearly every single betting site.
James’ time in the Summer League hasn’t been great, although his last two games have been much more promising.
During the first four games of Summer League, James averaged 4.3 points and shot 22.6% from the field.
He has done much better in his last two games but that didn’t really help his chances of winning Rookie of the Year.
James most certainly won’t win that trophy next season but that’s not surprising considering he was the No. 55 pick in the draft.
Despite his place in the draft, expectations surrounding James are incredibly high because of his father.
No matter how he does during the regular season, fans can expect a lot more speculation about James and his possibility of winning end-of-season awards.
His time in the Summer League has proven that James already has a chorus of fans and detractors before even playing a regular season game.
Those people will only get louder in the months ahead.
