Bronny James is clearly very proud of his family and wants to follow in his father’s footsteps.

But there is one tradition that he will not be continuing.

Speaking to Bleacher Report, via ClutchPoints, James was asked if he would name a future son LeBron James III.

James’ reply was to the point.

“Absolutely not,” he simply said.

Reporter: “If you have a son, will you name him LeBron James III?”

This statement shows that James wants to be like his dad but also carve out his own path at the same time.

This past week has given fans a reason to believe that could be possible.

Just a few months ago, many people said that James’ first season at USC was lacking and didn’t prove he has what it takes to play in the NBA.

But his time at the combine impressed many and James did very well, showing off his athleticism and budding skills.

Because of that, a number of NBA teams might be eager to land him on draft night next month.

There was a time when it seemed like the Los Angeles Lakers would be the only team interested in acquiring James but the number of front offices contemplating that choice has grown because of his work at the combine.

This means that he might have multiple entryways into the league and could make a name for himself that exists outside his father’s legacy.

This week has been very good for James in a number of ways and has allowed him to gain attention because of his skills and not his family name.

This won’t be the last time he’ll be interviewed about his dad but James seems very comfortable speaking candidly about his father and his future.
