Bronny James is hardly the new face of the Los Angeles Lakers, but he receives an overwhelming deluge of media and fan attention after being drafted in the second round by the team.
That is due to being the oldest son of legendary Laker LeBron James, and the young man has quickly endeared himself to the team’s legions of fans.
Now it’s time to play basketball, but James will first suit up in the summer league to hone his skills before the season tips off later this year.
James told Lakers reporter Mike Trudell his goals for playing in the summer league.
He explained he will focus on “going out and being aggressive, being myself, and showcasing what I was doing before my incident. Proving myself to the doubters.”

That incident was an alarming medical situation James experienced while at USC.
James spoke to Trudell about draft day and believing that his NBA dream was about to come true.
The younger James recalled the challenges of “playing up” his whole life, of taking the court with players who were older, bigger and stronger than he and learning how to elevate his game to their high level.
Now comes the ultimate test as he will work in the summer league to prepare for the grueling 82-game NBA schedule.
And while Bronny is not expected to be a leader on the Lakers, his presence will bring electricity to the court that players and fans will watch and enjoy.
The historic pairing with his father will be a treat for all.
